RACE DETAILS

Whether you run/cycle around your garden, do a lap on the treadmill or stationary bike, sprint around the block, trek through the bush or along the beach, this year’s Lilyfontein AR takes place anywhere and everywhere. 

We are introducing a new concept for adventure racing; our virtual AR is a first of its kind for our school and our adventure community.  Enter any one of the 5 categories as listed below and on successful completion of your race you will receive a personalised digital certificate as bragging rights for conquering your distance.

RACE GUIDELINES

  • Enter as a team of 2 or a team of 4.
  • Teams of 4 must have at least one member of the opposite gender.
  • Categories are open to all ages with no restriction. In other words – anyone of any age can enter any of the categories.
  • Kilometers can be accumulated over the 11-day period and do not need to be completed in one session.
  • Ensure that all sessions are logged using a recording app like Strava or any other distance tracking GPS device.
  • Each category is made up of a running and cycling leg.
  • Participants are required to work as a team, add value and most importantly – have fun.

VIRTUAL ADVENTURE: STEP BY STEP GUIDE

Step 1

Find your team – mom or dad, friend or foe, brother, sister or cuzzie

Step 2

Enter your team online

Step 3

Plot and plan your routes as a team (This year there are no prescribed routes – the path you take is limited only by your imagination and your surrounding environment)

Step 4

Get into the great outdoors and run/ride between 23 October – 2 November 2020

Step 5

Take loads of selfies to record and share your experience

Step 6

Record your km’s using any recording app

Step 7

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS 

Your team’s submission must include:

  1. Selfie pics / videos of your team’s progress and experiences.
  2. Proof of distance covered in the form of a Strava/GPS image/screenshot etc.
  3. One word to describe your experience.

COMPULSORY EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST

  1. Hydration – water bottle or camel pack.
  2. Backpack with snacks and supplies suitable to your distance.
  3. NO helmet NO ride.
  4. Adventurous spirit and a good attitude.
