School will close today, 31 March 2017, for the end of the 1st term and re-open again for the second term on Tuesday, 18 April 2017. May you and your families enjoy the holidays and those travelling, travel safely. Have a blessed Easter!
Please take note that when we return to school on Tuesday, 18 April, we will begin with Week 1.
Please note that our extra murals for the 2nd term will start on Tuesday, 18 April. Buses will therefore leave at 16:00 from the first day of term.
High School Academic Interviews
Academic interviews for High School learners will take place on:
• Tuesday, 18 April 2017 at 18:00-19:30 for day scholars
• Friday, 21 April 2017 at 14:15-15:30 for hostel learners.
Parents who wish to discuss their children’s progress with the respective teachers must please make use of these opportunities to do so. High School staff will be available in their classrooms to speak to parents and learners on the progress made and any concerns regarding the learner’s performance. It is essential that the learner accompanies the parent to the interview. Learners are to be dressed in uniform for this. Should you be unable to attend these meetings and wish to see the teachers about your child’s progress, kindly contact the front office to set up an appointment.
High School Drop-off Zone
Work will start on our new High School drop-off zone during the holidays. Please note that there will be a new entry road and the old road will be an exit road only. This is to encourage circular traffic flow. Hostel parents are requested to access the hostel via the new top road

Rotary Short Term Exchange – Congratulations to Mattheus van der Walt, Nathan Crew, Christianne Whitward, Tara Rutherford and Cherise Carlsen on their acceptance to the programme. They will spend 6 weeks overseas at the end of this year.
Bread Clips - Thank you for sending the bread clips to school. We have collected ±28 000.
We will be participating in the Jikeleza Schools’ Pop-Up Art Festival running at Umnenga Lodge this Saturday and Sunday (1st and 2nd April). Congratulations to all artists involved.
Eco Department Request
Please start saving your 2 litre bottles for our next eco brick project which will start next term. We will need a lot of bottles and we will advise when these should be sent to school. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!!!
Please note that winter uniform for Grades 7 – 12 will only be worn from 5 May 2017. Please ensure that your child has a tie, blazer and navy stockings in the case of girls.
Uniform and Hair Check
Please be advised that this will take place on the first day of the new term. Please ensure your child/ren have had their hair cut and that boys have their sideburns trimmed and they are clean shaven. Please also note that no comb-overs, tinted, hair extensions or coloured hair is permitted. The parents of any learner not complying with our Code of Conduct (as agreed to), will be telephoned to collect their child from school to rectify this.

Please note that statements for Music, Hospitality, Bus and Drummies will be included in your report envelope. Grade 8 and 9 Workbooks / Photocopying Costs 28 March 2017 There seems to be confusion with the workbooks and stationery requirements for both Grade 8 and 9. Please note that in total an amount of R400 had to be paid over to the school. The breakdown for this amount is as follows:- R150 NS workbook (reflected on African Book Connection textbook list) R100 Technology workbook (reflected on African Book Connection textbook list) R50 Technology photocopying for the year (reflected on Technology stationery requirements list) R100 NS photocopying for the year (reflected on stationery lists for specific grades) Please ensure that the correct amounts have been paid over to the school for this.
Please note that it is compulsory for all rugby and hockey players to have a gumguard when playing. “No gumguard, no play!”
